Have you ever wanted to help an adult achieve their GED?  Here’s your chance!  At the Central Campus GED Learning Resource Center you have the opportunity to help an adult improve their language arts (reading and writing) and math skills all the way to graduation.

Language arts tutors may be asked to assist students with reading comprehension, grammar, essay writing, and more.

Math tutors may be asked to assist with fractions, decimals, percentages, algebra, geometry, or word problems.

Session One and Two: Tuesdays & Thursdays

Anytime between 9:00a.m.–1:00p.m. and 4:00p.m.–8:00p.m.

Have you ever wanted to help an adult learn English as a Second Language (ESL)? At the Cato Campus ESL Learning Resource Center you can do just that!

Volunteers will be asked to work with small groups, tutor individual students, assist students on the computer.  Students are in this ESL lab to learn English in a multilevel lab.

Volunteers need to be comfortable using technology (computers) to help in this lab. Individual attention in this lab setting makes a world of difference to students!

Session One: CLOSED

Refugees are individuals who have had to flee their country due to a fear of persecution or death based on ethnicity, religion, political views, or social status. Most of the refugees arriving in Charlotte come from refugee camps, but some have entered the U.S. on their own and have been granted asylum.  Here's your chance to make a difference in a refugees life!

Volunteer tutors will assist in instructor lead classroom settings.  Tutors often are asked to work with students one on one, in small groups, or as a teachers assistant.  As a volunteer tutor you will help a student learn basic English reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.

Interested volunteers are required to attend a one-hour information session with Robin Kello, Refugee Recruitment, Retention and Assessment Specialist.
