What accommodations are available on the GED® Test for people with disabilities?

Accommodations for disabilities are available. Paperwork to document and approve accommodations should be done as soon as the student enters the program and pre-testing is completed. Instructors can assist with this process.

Can I just take the GED® final Test without preparation work? No. All students must attend a preparation class prior to taking the final GED® test.
Can scores be mailed? A letter from our offices will be sent when a student takes all five tests and they need to return for additional instruction due to a failing grade in on or more subjects/ otherwise the diploma will be sent via mail to inform of completion.
When will I get my diploma?

Final diploma takes 4-8 weeks and will be mailed by the State Office to the student. Students need to make sure to update our offices as soon as possible with address/phone number changes to avoid delays in receiving diploma.

I have a state issued ID not from North Carolina since I am not a North Carolina resident. Can I still take the GED®? Yes, you can still take the GED®. Your ID does not have to be a North Carolina ID. Currently, there is no residency policy to test.
Can I take the GED® test in any other languages?

Yes, you can take the GED® Test in English, Spanish or French. Spanish GED® preparation is through the curriculum ESL department. Please contact 704-330-6914 for additional information.

How long will the 2002 series of the GED® Test be in use? And, who will take over this test at that time?

2012 - Introduction to Computer Based Testing

2013 - Computer based testing only (2002 series still in use). All students need to complete 2002 series for diploma.

2014 - Introduction to new series.

This test will be taken over by Pearson Vue. This test will still be administered through your local Community College GED Testing Center.

The Accuplacer Test is a standardized test that assesses reading and math skills. This test is used for students who have completed Adult High School or the GED® Test. This test is required for students who would like to attend college. A preparation session is offered by CPCC for students who have applied for admission.
