Can ESL/immigrant minors register for CCR classes?

ESL/immigrant minors 16 – 17 years of age may enroll in College and Career Readiness classes under the conditions below.

    • No individuals with F-1 visas are permitted to enroll in the College and Career Readiness program.
    • All minors must meet with the CCR Minors Admissions Specialist prior to entry.
    • If the ESL minor last attended a CMS school, the student would follow the regular minor registration process described above.

ESL Minors with a High School Diploma from a Foreign Country:

    • ESL minors who have graduated from high school in a foreign country should attempt to obtain their official high school transcripts, translated and evaluated.
    • Official translation and evaluation services can be found here:  www.naces.org.
    • The minors can then take their transcripts to the CPCC Campus Registrar, where they will be put on record, and all minor restrictions will be lifted.

ESL Minors Who Have Not Completed High School and Have Not Attended School in the US:

    • Minors should attempt to obtain a letter of withdrawal from the last school attended in their home country. They are eligible to enter CCR four months after their official withdrawal date and must complete this release form. All areas of the form must be filled out completely, including signature of a legal guardian, notarization, and signature of approval by the CCR Minors Admissions Specialist.
    • If for reasons beyond the parent/guardian’s control, withdrawal paperwork cannot be retrieved from the home school, the release form should be completed and the dean will review the situation on a case-by-case basis..
    • Note: Even if the student didn’t complete high school, official transcripts are encouraged if the minor is interested in enrolling in CCR’s Adult High School Program.
