Career Decision Online Resources


    Central Piedmont Community College's (CPCC) Career Services offers many assessment options; some free and some with a small fee. Should you decide to take assessments, your counselor will explain your options,  how to take the assessments, and will interpret the results with you.

    Career Coach Interest Assessment

    Career Coach is a career information resource that offers an online interest assessment to help you identify your interests and careers that relate to your interests. Career coach also has local salary and employer information, occupational growth projections, and information about CPCC's programs of study. Anyone can use this free career exploration tool.

    Assessments through CFNC

    Try this comprehensive program that you can access online, for free. It is self-paced and includes a wealth of career assessments and information. Students may choose an English or Spanish version. Some of the program features include:

    • Complete interest, skills, and values assessments to identify your personal career options
    • Access over 650 descriptions of various careers
    • Watch over 400 career videos to see real people doing their jobs
    • Identify colleges with the major of your choice
    • Save your work in an online portfolio to share with your career counselor
    • Download the CFNC activities sheet to help you as you log in and use the system

    Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) ®

    The MBTI can help you understand the attributes of your personality and how they relate to your career choices. You will receive a report that includes a list of possible careers. It usually takes from 20-30 minutes to complete.

    Strong Interest Inventory ®

    The Strong Interest Inventory examines your preferences about occupations, extracurricular activities, academic subjects, etc. By identifying trends among your interests, the assessment generates an extensive list of prospective careers for further exploration. Please allow 30-40 minutes to complete this assessment.

    The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) and Strong Interest Inventory are the most comprehensive assessments offered. There is a fee of $14 for each of these assessments.


      You must be a current curriculum student to participate in career counseling.
