9/20-11/1 American Heart Association and MEDIC are hosting FREE Hands-on Adult CPR and AED usage (non-certification). Participants will learn hands-on adult CPR and how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator) device.  These 90 minute training sessions will be offered at the area campuses on Friday mornings September thru November. 9/24-11/27 Free Fitness Classes- Stretch and Flex at Cato on Tuesdays 4-5pm, and Levine on Tuesdays 1:15-2:15pm, Boot Camp at Central on Tuesdays 4;30-5:30pm, Stretch Band Workout at Harper on Mondays 5-6pm, and Yoga at Merancas on Tuesdays 4-5pm.

10/15 Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Lunch and Learn is presented by Novant. Finding cancer early can drastically improve your chances of beating it. Participants will learn what they need to know about prevention and early detection for the most common types of cancer-breast, colon, lung, prostate and skin. Hosted on Levine Campus September 13, from 12:00-1:00pm, and Central Campus October 15, from 12:00-1:00pm. A light healthy lunch will be served. 10/24 Breast Cancer Awareness Lunch and Learn is presented by Novant. Participants will learn about common types of breast cancer and stages, as well as, early detection and mammography. A light healthy lunch will be served on Central Campus October 24, from 12:00-1:00pm.  Register in LearnerWeb to reserve a space and receive one hour PD worksite wellness credit.

10/2 - 11/20 Nicotine Cessation Group, a series of 8 weekly group sessions facilitated by Frankie Tack, substance abuse instructor. Each weekly session will include an educational information component, followed by a discussion component. The program will involve basic nicotine and nicotine addiction education, preparation for setting a quit date, and follow up with maintaining a nicotine-free commitment while managing withdrawal, cravings and weight gain. Maximum number of participants will be 12.

Offered on Central Campus on Wednesdays, October 2 - November 20, in HL 201/212 from 4:30-5:30pm. Register in LearnerWeb for the first session only but by registering, participants are committing to the entire series and will receive one hour PD worksite wellness credit.

10/1, 10/24, 10/30 Novant Mobile Breast Mammogram Center is coming onsite to Levine Campus on October 1, Harris Campus on October 24 and Central Campus on October 30. Mammograms are covered as a preventive screening every year starting at age 40; however, it must be one year since your previous mammogram. Novant team will contact your previous provider to obtain films from your most recent mammogram. Novant will fill a claim with your insurance provider. Pre-registration is preferred, to schedule an appointment call 704 384 7228.

11/8 Employee Health and Fitness Day November 8, from 11:00-1:00 Central Campus,  Worrell Gym
The main purpose of the event is to provide our employees with a festive series of interactive health and fitness events and exhibitor information. Several of this year’s exciting events are AED training, eating smart, dancing to fitness, and much more. As well as an opportunity to interact with 30 community health partners.
