Buddy Kemp - No One Fights Cancer Alone: Utilizing Community Resources is presented by Marcia Lampert of Buddy Kemp Cancer Support Center. Learn about the array of resources and services provided by the Buddy Kemp Center and their community partners in regards to selecting doctors, exploring treatment options, finding answers, and managing information so cancer patients feel comfortable with the choices they make. All services are offered to all members of the community dealing with cancer diagnosis.
Parks and Recreation - Participate in several of the Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation's programs, classes, leagues, lessons or wildlife programs. Check out their website for directions to specific parks or to learn about activities for all ages.
Working Toward Wellness - The Working Toward Wellness Program is available to assist worksites in developing policies and environmental changes that will create a work environment where living a healthy lifestyle is simple and fun. We focus these changes on healthy eating, physical activity, and tobacco use.
NC HealthSmart - Welcome to NC HealthSmart, your healthy living resource for you and your family. The State Health Plan has designed a wealth of resources to help you achieve your health and wellness goals. Visit My Health Portal to take a Health Assessment and receive a personalized action plan, receive online coaching, and to access healthy recipes and more.
Quit Smoking or Using Tobacco - The NC State Health Plan provides resources to encourage members to to quit smoking or using tobacco products. The Plan will pay for over-the-counter nicotine patches and provide 24/7 telephone support. Contact the NC Quitline by calling 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669). Organize Healthy Meals - Check out the Organizing Healthy Meals for Meetings, Events & Celebrations (a PPT presentation) provided by the NC HealthSmart Worksite Wellness program. The PPT provides tips, guidelines and serving suggestions for foods and drinks served at meetings, events and other activities.
