CPR training is now available
A special thank you goes to Cynthia Smith, Chair of Health and Physical Education and certified CPR Instructor. The Be Well committee appreciates her willingness to volunteer her time and instruct five courses this past year. Thanks to Cynthia’s training, over 38 employees from across the College have completed the American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid certification classes.
In collaboration with Cynthia Smith, the Environmental Health and Safety Department, and the Emergency Response teams, the Be Well committee will continue to offer CPR and First Aid certification training in the future with a goal to have multiple trained employees at all campus locations.
Future dates will be listed in LearnerWeb. General course information is listed below.
The Heartsaver AED course teaches CPR, AED use, relief of choking in adults and children, and use of barrier devices for all ages. The class portion without infant CPR is 2-3 hours. Participants need to:
- pick up a textbook PRIOR to class in Central Campus Library.
- read pages 3 -17, 23-28, 31-33, 91–108 and review the CD PRIOR to class
- dress comfortably as you will practice with the manikins on the floor
If any medical conditions exist discuss these with the instructor prior to signing up for this class. All participants must return the books following completion of the training. If you have any questions contact Cynthia Smith at 6726.
