(Although 1865 had no placement test score on file, only 77 of the 1865 took a math course within 2 years, with most placing above MAT050, suggesting that they had taken courses elsewhere that satisfied the prerequisite for the course that was taken.)

 

 

Other Information Regarding the Decision Making Process:

 If the developmental courses are taken in sequence, students who place into MAT050 and successfully complete one course each semester will need 4 semesters or more to complete their math requirement.

  

Suggested Qualitative Data Needed:

  • Did students prepare for the placement test?
  • Did students understand how the placement test results would be used and how it would affect their schedule of courses?
  • Did the no calculator restriction on the arithmetic part of the test result in a lower score?
