It’s “Girls Only” in this class designed for fun, exercise and to boost your confidence in dancing with future partners. You’ll learn rhythm and basic female steps to follow the male lead. Practice and find comfort among friends as you perfect the basic steps the Swing, Foxtrot, Rumba, Cha-Cha and Waltz and an additional dance, such as the Tango. Belly dancing is a wonderful, fun way to exercise and celebrate the human form in all shapes and sizes. This ancient art form is performed to celebrate life, beauty, and creativity. Music is an integral part of the dance, which evolved as preparation for childbirth, “or from the belly, the source of life.” Today, belly dancing is highly regarded as a fun way to strengthen core muscles and keep fit. You’ll learn to isolate movements and control individual parts of the body, including arms and hands. Wear loose-fitting clothing that does not restrict movement.

Tai-Chi has been shown to improve strength, balance, coordination, and circulation and it has been used as partial treatment for arthritis, joint stiffness, hypertension, and diabetes. This beginner’s course will provide an introduction to the healthy experience of Tai-Chi.

A combination of low-impact exercises helps improve your strength and balance, which is proven to boost your overall health and maintain an active lifestyle. Activities address the needs of overall strength/ stability while you work at your own pace and skill level. Techniques are taken from a variety of disciplines and use tools, including stability balls and hand weights.

This weekend course is for those with no motorcycle riding experience, yet advanced enough to increase knowledge and riding skills of experienced riders. Course consists of class work and riding exercises on motorcycles provided by the college. Upon satisfactory completion of this course you will receive a waiver for the skills portion of the NCDMV license test.

Join this section designed just for women! The course is specifically designed for those with no motorcycle riding experience, but the student must have the balancing ability to ride a bicycle prior to class. Course consists of class work and riding exercises on motorcycles provided by the college. Upon satisfactory completion you will receive a waiver for the skills portion of the NC DMV license test.

This weekday course is specifically designed for those with no motorcycle riding experience, yet advanced enough to increase knowledge and riding skills of experienced riders. Course consists of class work and riding exercises on motorcycles provided by the college. Upon satisfactory completion of this course you will receive a waiver for the skills portion of the NC DMV license test. Must be at least 16 years old. If for any reason a student cannot successfully complete this class, he or she will need tore-register at their own expense.

This class is designed for motorcycle riders who are already licensed or have a NC permit and wish to obtain full NC licensure. This one day course covers street riding strategies and reinforces important information about traction, cornering and counter-steering. Students must provide a safe, street-ready motorcycle. Proof of insurance required. Students looking to obtain a waiver for the skills portion of the NC DMV license test must pass a written and riding skills test.

Prepare to become a CERTIFIED PERSONAL TRAINER in this six week program. 15 hours of “hands-on” practical training prepares students to work with clients one-on-one in fitness facilities. Students participate in 15 hours of lectures including anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, musculoskeletal injuries, health assessments and more. The national exam is held the final week of class. Proof of CPR/AED Certification and 30 internship hours are required for certification. Textbook is available in CPCC bookstore.

Kayaking is a great way to explore the outdoors. This course, designed to teach the basic skills of flatwater kayaking, is taught at a local lake. Learn forward and reverse strokes, sweeps and self-rescue skills. Seakayakers welcome in this course. Dress to get wet!

TENNIS FOR BEGINNERS- REC8305
Students will learn the fundamentals of the game, enabling them to enjoy recreational tennis. Tennis rules, etiquette, court play and basic strokes will be covered. Students provide their own racquets & balls.

Extra fees are charged for this course and are to be paid at the facility (Approximately $6 each class for range balls). Students bring their own clubs; those designed for women are preferable.
