Kathy Scott Rummage named executive director of communications at CPCC
Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) is pleased to announce that Kathy Scott Rummage has been selected as the new executive director of communications of its Community Relations and Marketing Services Department. In her new role, Rummage provides strategic oversight of the College’s communications initiatives, including social media.
“We are thrilled to have Kathy join our team,” said Jessica Graham, assistant to the president for marketing and community relations. “Kathy is a seasoned public relations professional and we look forward to benefitting from her many years of industry experience as our department strives to raise awareness of CPCC and its many programs on the local and national level.”
Prior to joining the CPCC family, Rummage provided professional public relations services for such clients as Charlotte’s prestigious Blumenthal Performing Arts Center and Branstorm PR, a public relations firm located in the Queen City. Before starting her own business, Kathy was a broadcast journalist, working as a reporter and anchor for several television stations located throughout North Carolina and Louisiana, including WBTV-TV (Charlotte, N.C.), WLOS-TV (Asheville, N.C.) and KTBS-TV (Shreveport, La.).
A 1997 cum laude graduate of Wake Forest University, Rummage has a bachelor’s degree in communications. She is a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) – Charlotte Chapter and is a participant in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team In Training program. She is a past recipient of a 2003 Emmy Award for her coverage of the 9/11 terrorist attacks from New York, was a founding board member of the Mimi Paige Foundation (to promote responsible pet ownership) and is a graduate of the Leadership Texarkana program.
Rummage began her new duties at CPCC on February 9.
Central Piedmont Community College is the largest community college in North Carolina, offering close to 300 academic degree, customized corporate training, market-focused continuing education, and special interest classes. CPCC is academically, financially and geographically accessible to all citizens of Mecklenburg County. In 2002, the National Alliance of Business named CPCC the Community College of the Year for its response to the workforce and technology needs of local employers and job seekers through innovative educational and training strategies.
