CPCC to Offer Free Seminar, “Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi: What’s Right for You?”

WHAT:Central Piedmont Community College’s (CPCC) Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning Department is pleased to host a free seminar – “Yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi: What’s Right for You?” – to encourage area residents to adopt a healthy lifestyle and to introduce three popular forms of exercise.
Qualified instructors will introduce attendees to the fundamentals of each exercise, discussing their differences, benefits and requirements. This introductory seminar is open to all individuals of all ages and fitness levels. The class will include:
Yoga for Beginners: Gain an understanding of the basic components of a yoga practice, including breathing techniques and methods for relaxation and meditation. Students will learn proper body alignment and classical yoga postures.
Intro to Tai Chi: Students will be provided with the opportunity to learn and practice traditional Tai Chi exercises, including form movements, stretching, breathing exercises and the basics of Chi Gong, as it relates to Tai Chi.
Pilates for Beginners: This session will focus on proper breathing techniques, flexibility, muscle strengthening and toning, and achieving correct body postures.
*Note: Individuals should dress comfortably and bring a mat, blanket or large towel.
