CPCC Presents “Career Strategies for Challenging Times” Workshop

WHAT: It’s no secret that the U.S. economy is currently experiencing hard times. Residents are experiencing plummeting retirement plans, possible unemployment and financial hardship. Therefore, Career Services professionals at Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) will host a free workshop for job seekers in the city of Charlotte who need assistance with their employment search.
In addition to providing resume critiques, professionals will host information sessions throughout the day that will focus on a variety of subjects, including:
  • Interviewing Skills – Outshine the Competition:  Polish your interviewing skills and learn how to best present your abilities and experience in this interactive workshop. Learn tips on what to do before, during and after the interview.
  • Considering a Career Change? Make an Informed Decision: Challenging times in a changing workforce may force you to ask, “Is it time to find a new career?” Learn what to consider and how to make informed career changes based on a few key factors. Discover how to incorporate all aspects of your life into career choices.
  • Finding a Job in a Tight Market:  Learn some proven secrets to locate job opportunities, even those not advertised. Diversify your job search by going beyond just applying for jobs on the Internet. This session is designed to help you recharge your job search.
  • What does your resume say about you?:  Do you know what can put your resume at the top of the pile? Learn how to make your resume stand out above the rest.
  • Want more training at CPCC?:  A panel of CPCC staff will explain what programs the College has to offer and how you can get started. Learn about your options – whether it’s one skill or a new career field.
WHEN: Friday, December 5; 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. (Four information sessions will run each hour, beginning at 9:00 a.m.)
