Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) is proud to announce the launch of its own channel on the video-sharing Web site YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/cpcctv. Visitors to the site will be able to preview more than 140 videos, dedicated to improving the value of the surrounding community and its residents.
While many of the site’s videos promote the College’s programs and feature an array of instructional videos focused on such industries as horticulture, the culinary arts and healthcare, the site also serves as an employment resource, teaching users career basics what will put them on the path to success.
This is an invaluable tool to many residents, especially during today’s tough economic times. As a result, files featuring CPCC’s career professionals discussing job seeking techniques such as interviewing skills, resume writing and career transitions have emerged as the most popular videos on the site.
“CPCC’s presence on YouTube gives visitors the opportunity to leverage content that will significantly improve their lives,” said David Rhew, broadcast general manager for CPCC. “Users can learn the skills they need to achieve their personal and professional goals, reinforcing CPCC’s mission to be a leader in workforce development.”
The channel is a joint partnership between CPCC TV and the College’s ITS Department. The two teams worked collaboratively throughout the fall 2008 semester to make the site available to the community, free of charge.
In addition to the newly launched YouTube Channel, CPCC also created a home for the College’s feature programs as well - http://cpcc.edu/tv. Now residents of Mecklenburg County and beyond may view CPCC-TV’s educational programming. Both sites generate a greater awareness of CPCC and help the College better serve the surrounding communities.
Founded in 2005, YouTube is the leading online video community that allows people to discover, watch and share originally created videos. YouTube allows people to easily upload and share video clips on www.youtube.com and across the Internet through Web sites, blogs and email.
Central Piedmont Community College is the largest community college in North Carolina, offering close to 300 degree and certification programs, customized corporate training, market-focused continuing education, and special interest classes. CPCC is academically, financially and geographically accessible to all citizens of Mecklenburg County. In 2002, the National Alliance of Business named CPCC the Community College of the Year for its response to the workforce and technology needs of local employers and job seekers through innovative educational and training strategies.
