Thomas Anthony, a mathematics instructor at Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC), is proud to release his 10th book of poetry titled, “Through the Garden.” His latest release includes such inspirational and profound pieces of poetry as “Broken Wing” and “Embrace It,” which have been hailed by critics as being both vulnerable and transparent in their message and structure.
“This book is about embracing life,” adds Anthony. “While I was writing many of the poems in this collection, I was experiencing many life struggles. Readers will be taken on a journey as they experience my life through the written word, traveling with me as I learn that each hurdle I jump is an opportunity to further learn and grow.”
A native of New York, Anthony attended West Montgomery High School in North Carolina where his passion for writing was born. He achieved many small writing successes throughout his high school and collegiate careers, but instead became a math and science teacher following his graduation from Pfeiffer College in 1980.
He continued to study the field of mathematics, receiving a master’s degree in the subject from Appalachian State University in 1986. Upon earning his master’s, he entered the technology industry and served as a computer technician for 15 years.
The turning point in his career came in 1995 when he began to study with the Institute for Life-Leadership & Coaching (ILC), a community committed to mentoring each individual’s personal, professional and spiritual identity. During his experience with ILC, Anthony reconnected with his life’s passion – writing.
Today, Anthony is not only an instructor at CPCC, but an accomplished writer as well. Over the past decade, he has published a variety of poetry books, including “Release of Dreams and Reality”(1997),Grandma called Him Tom”(2000),Release of Dreams and Reality”(2000),Golden Nuggets”(2001),Rocks Crashing into the Sea”(2002), Messages in Bottles”(2003),Lost Love Letters”(2004),Transformations through the Storm”(2006) and “Garden of the Heart”(2006).
