CPCC event to help entrepreneurs, small business owners find success

WHAT: In conjunction with U.S. Small Business Week, Central Piedmont Community College’s Institute for Entrepreneurship will host “Entrepreneurial Success: Marketing and Communications,” a free event designed to help new entrepreneurs and existing small business owners find and use better marketing and communication techniques to drive customers, increase sales and generate business success. 
The one-day event will feature helpful workshops, expert speakers and timely subject matter on the following topics:
Featured Speakers - Lena Claxton and Alison Woo:Come and learn from these two successful entrepreneurs and authors. Lena and Alison are the principals of New Media Mavens, a leading provider of group coaching, seminars and marketing solutions for small business owners. They are also the authors of “How to Say It: Marketing with New Media – A Guide to Promoting Small Businesses with Web Site, Ezines, Blogs & Products.” (2 p.m.)
Magic of Good PR - Gaining Greater Exposure in the Marketplace: Patricia Pollack, founder and president of My Team of Experts will lead this workshop to teach you how to grab the reporters’ attention. Learn what the media is looking for and how they decide which stories to run. (4 p.m.)
The Power of Marketing Communications - Even in a Tight Economy: Presented by Karen Ponischi, co-founder and partner of Moonlight Creative Group, Inc., this workshop will lead you through a communications plan and its importance to your business success. Discover creativity in marketing and learn how to communicate your message through newsletters and networking. (4 p.m.)
Lead Generation - Getting the Phone to Ring: Join this seminar as Ted Kozlowski, owner of Life Raft Consulting and director of sales for Revenflow, gives you valuable information on how to use the Internet to generate more business. Topics will include pay-per-click advertising on Google, Yahoo!, MSN and much more! (5 p.m.)
Branding for Success - Build Your Brand & Build Your Success!: Learn how major corporate and retail brands built their “brands” and how you can build your small business brand from Kamala Worthington, president and CEO of KW Marketing Consultants. You’ll take away tips and strategies on how to best communicate your brand to the world. (5 p.m.)
SBA: Recovery Act Update – What Does the Nation’s Recovery Plan Mean for Small Business?: A representative from the Small Business Administration (SBA) will provide you with an overview on the Recovery Act. This session will focus on the changes associated with SBA lending and what steps are being taken to jump start the economy in regards to the lending market. (6 p.m.)
