CPCC brings economist Paul Krugman to the Halton Theater stage November 2
Presentation to focus on country’s economy and policies
WHAT: Central Piedmont Community College’s (CPCC) Economics Department and Business & Accounting Division is pleased to host Paul Krugman, recipient of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics, as he discusses “U.S. Macroeconomic Policy: Past, Present and Future” and takes an insider’s look at the country’s economy and policies.
A seasoned author, economist and educator, Krugman is a professor of economics at Princeton University. In addition to this role, Krugman has held teaching positions at Yale, Stanford and MIT; co-founded the “new trade theory,” a view that focuses on increasing returns and imperfect returns in the global marketplace; and writes extensively for the New York Times as an op-ed columnist.
Krugman is best known for his international finance research and has written numerous books on the subject, including “The Conscience of a Liberal,” “Peddling Prosperity” and “The Age of Diminished Expectations,” which have become modern classics.
A graduate of Yale and MIT, Krugman spent a year on the staff of the Council of Economic Advisers and is a past recipient of the America Economics Association’s John Bates Clark Medal which recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to economic thought and knowledge.
