CPCC Announces 2010 Study Abroad Courses
Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) is now accepting applications for its 2010 Study Abroad Program which will include Spanish immersion in Atenas, Costa Rica; French in Montréal, Quebec; and German in Heidelberg, Germany. These programs are a valued resource within the local community, providing residents and students with exemplary international experiences that foster global understanding and personal growth.
Since 2001, the College’s students and faculty members, together with Charlotte community members, have participated in language immersion courses at in-country language centers. Each study abroad program is approximately two- to four-weeks long, and may be audited or counted towards academic credit.
Montréal, Quebec (July 3-25)
The bilingual city of Montréal, on the St. Lawrence River, has a European ambience but is just a couple hours away from Charlotte by plane. Classes are at the University of Québec, Montréal. The summer fun includes their famous Jazz Fest, the Just for Laughs Fest, cafés, shopping, bike riding, sightseeing, museums, beautiful gardens and historic landmarks. An overnight excursion to Old Québec City is planned. Receive up to seven academic credits or audit only.
Heidelberg, Germany (July 3 – 31)
Heidelberg is a romantic town on the River Neckar. It is steeped in history and is Germany’s oldest university town. Heidelberg is also considered an excellent business location and it is dynamic as well as charming. Classes will be held at the F+U Academy of Languages, centrally located in old Heidelberg. Excursions and activities are available. Receive up to seven academic credits or audit only.
Atenas, Costa Rica (four weeks, May 30–June 27; or two weeks, June 11–27)
