Campus Incident 2/3/10

last modified Feb 03, 2010 01:12 PM

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police today arrested two individuals on CPCC’s Central Campus for firearm violations. The arrested individuals are not students, and it is believed they were a part of a domestic situation involving a CPCC student. No firearms were discharged, and no one was injured as the result of the incident. The College is working closely with the authorities on this investigation. CMPD is on site and CPCC security has increased its presence on Campus. Because this is believed to be a targeted domestic situation, authorities have determined there is no threat to the greater College community.

The safety and security of our students and staff are top priorities at CPCC. We are working with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to increase its visibility on Central Campus, including placement of a CMPD sky tower at the corner of Charlottetowne and Fourth Streets.

Authorities were alerted to this situation by a student tip. Please remember that if you see any suspicious activity, report it to CPCC security immediately at 704.330.6911. For more campus security and safety tips, visit  http://www.cpcc.edu/college-security.
