We’ve organized our program areas into academic divisions to help students seeking a specialization in a particular area of study (e.g. the Mathematics Division, the Arts & Communication Division, etc.).


Applied Technologies Division

Our Applied Technologies programs offer a unique combination of study and practical experience. What you learn in the classroom is applicable in a cooperative work experience. Thanks to our partnerships with local business and industry, our instructors are able to keep the curriculum in step with changes in the marketplace’s equipment, technology and procedures. Arts and Communication Division

Gain an understanding of the most effective forms of communication; the arts, including dance, drama, music and photography; interior design; architectural technology; and more at CPCC. Our curriculum will equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to be successful in these diverse fields.

The Behavioral & Social Sciences Division fosters a creative learning environment for students and encourages student learning in critical thinking and personal growth in the areas of history, psychology, sociology, anthropology and political science.

Business and Accounting Division

Home to the College’s Accounting, Business Administration/Marketing and Retailing and International Business programs, the Business and Accounting Division will prepare you to compete within today’s global workforce. You’ll graduate from CPCC with the business acumen and/or foreign language skills needed to succeed on any professional level and in any working environment.

College and Career Readiness Department

The College and Career Readiness Department offers college and career readiness courses to help students brush up on their skills before enrolling in college or seeking employment. A variety of courses are available to fit student needs. Best of all, you will receive professional instruction in classes that are offered free of charge.

Construction Technologies Division

Our Construction Technologies Division includes a variety of programs designed to produce graduates who are prepared to enter today’s construction workforce. Whether you’re interested in pursuing a career in construction; masonry; heating, air conditioning and refrigeration; or electrical/electronics technology, we have a program for you that incorporates the latest techniques and theories of green building and renewable technologies.

Early Childhood Education

The Early Childhood Education Division is committed to providing instructional excellence in preparing individuals to work with children from infancy through middle childhood in diverse learning environments. Students combine theories with practice in actual settings with young children under the supervision of qualified teachers. Graduates are prepared to plan and implement developmentally appropriate programs in early childhood settings. Employment opportunities include child development and child care programs, preschools, public and private schools, Head Start programs and school-age programs.

The ACA, English, and Humanities Division is committed to providing instructional excellence in composition, creative writing, literature, the humanities, philosophy and reading. Foreign Languages and Academic ESL Division

Our Foreign Language Division is dedicated to helping you gain proficiency in German, French, Spanish and Academic ESL to explore and improve your career goals in areas such as business, education, government, industry, the military, nursing and social work. Health Sciences Division

Our Health Sciences programs will prepare you to deliver health care services in a variety of settings, from hospitals and dental offices to nursing facilities and public schools. Hospitality Education Division

The hospitality industry represents 8.1 percent of the global economy and is projected to increase to 18 percent by 2012, adding more than 1.6 million new jobs. Join this growing career field by earning a degree or certificate in culinary arts, baking and pastry arts, or hotel and restaurant management at CPCC – home to the only culinary program that is accredited by the American Culinary Federation Foundation Accrediting Commission (ACFFAC) in Charlotte.

Information Technology Division

As the needs of Charlotte’s workforce change, so too do our programs. This allows us to stay on the cutting-edge, providing new programs and training that serve the needs of the community. As a result, we recently added a Computer Technology Integration degree with specialties in Cyber Crime and Computer Forensics, Oracle Administration, JAVA Software Development, among others, and continue to offer our popular Networking Technology, Simulation and Game Development, Computer Science and Web Technologies programs.
