Math
The ALC serves all students enrolled in a CPCC Math course. We provide support for all the Math courses, from Basic Math through Calculus – including Statistics. All of our math assistance at the Central Campus ALC is now given in the form of Supplemental Instruction (SI)
Sessions. SI sessions bring students from the same class together to help each other learn concepts that they couldn't understand individually in class. The tutor acts as more of a facilitator helping students find answers among themselves instead of re-lecturing to them on what the instructor has already covered. It is a more hands-on approach than regular one-on-one tutoring. For a schedule of Math SI sessions available for this semester please see the Hours of Operation page.
We also offer math assistance at all of the other CPCC campuses. Please see Hours of Operation for more information. Most of this will still be done using the traditional one-on-one tutoring method due to the smaller number of students at these campuses. Some campuses have tutoring by appointment only. We also have Online Math Tutoring. If you are unable to come to campus all you need is access to the internet and our tutors are only a mouse click away.
Don’t wait until it’s too late to come see us. We urge you to come early in the semester so we can help you to make the most of whatever math class you are taking.
Additional services include:
- Math Media tutorial software
- Assistance with Ti-83/84, graphing calculators
- Math Textbooks
- Math Tutorial sheets
