Feature: Greetings from the Archives!
Hello and Happy New Year! This year is a special one for CPCC, as we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary all year long. Keep tuning in to this space for interesting stories, facts and photos from the CPCC Archives. We have a lot to share with you over the next twelve months!
To kick things off, here is a photo of the Central High building around 1960. For much of the building's early history it was home to Central High School. However, for a few years in the late '50s and early '60s the building housed Charlotte College, the precursor to the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. When Charlotte College moved in 1961 to UNCC's current location, Central High became the home of the Central Industrial Education Center, one of two schools that merged to form CPCC in 1963.
