2007 Bond Issue

What the 2007 bonds will mean for CPCC and the community:

  • Due to aging facilities and continued growth, CPCC is requesting the community’s support of a $30 million bond referendum. The funds will be used for the Van Every and Citizens Buildings on the Central Campus.

  • Van Every Building – This 40-year-old building no longer meets the needs of the learning environment. Outside studies recommend demolition and new construction as more cost effective than renovation. The new building would house information technology support services, as well as provide classrooms, labs, offices, and other support space for advanced technologies studies and general curriculum courses.

  • Citizens Center Renovation – The building currently houses the Culinary Arts Program, which will be relocated when the new facility opens in 2009–2010. Citizens Center will need to be renovated for different uses, which includes plans for an updated videography laboratory, general classrooms and offices, and operational support space for the television station.

CPCC is requesting $30 million in a Mecklenburg County bond referendum on Tuesday, November 6, 2007. These bond dollars will finance the next phase of the College’s strategic plan to expand access to CPCC education and training for you and this community.
